Romania’s national airline is Tarom, which offers flights from Heathrow to Bucharest on a regular basis. Flights can be obtained through British Airways, with daily flights starting at around £83 for a one way economy class ticket. Other operators that fly to Romania include Air France, Alitalia, Austrian Airlines, KLM, Lufthansa and Swiss.

Flight times from London to Bucharest are around three hours, and Bucharest’s airport offers a thoroughly modernised service – though it doesn’t really compare to Western standards. A bar, left luggage, restaurant, car hire and other usual services are available, as well as an express bus service, taxis and minibuses. The other international airports in Romania are at Arad, Cluj, Constanta, Sibiu and Timisoara, and the services provided are pretty standard.
